Drug Dog Sniffs Out Cashe of Cash
Half Million Dollars Confiscated
After only four months on the job, Alva Oklahoma
Police Departments canine "Jony" received credit
for sniffing out a half million dollars in probable drug
money.
The stop happened after a 1997 BMW convertible was pulled
over for a defective tail light. Officer Patrick
Hawley during the stop noticed the driver visibly trembling,
extremely nervous, and refused to make eye contact.
The driver produced a drivers license issued in Mexico
after a drivers license from Arizona was on the car's consule. Officer
Hewley removed "JONY" to search the vehicle and
he alerted on the car.
An initial check of the car reveled behind the back seat
in a customized compartment a total of $442,750.00 in US
currency.
Canine Unlimited Inc. trained the Alva Police Department
K-9 team. They have been out of training only four
months. This company trains the State Police K-9
teams and the Department of Correction dogs as well. after
contacting Oscar Hall, who owns the company, he stated
that Officer Patrick Hawley & K-9 "JONY" deserves
all the credit for a great job!
